Juror, Lauren P. Della Monica, selected 52 artworks from over 362 to be included in the Cape Cod Museum of Art‘s annual invitational exhibition titled: “We The People,” …the first three words in the Preamble of the US Constitution. This national competition asked artists to respond to the current political culture in light of the goals of the country’s founders and guiding principles.
The Exhibit runs from March 28 – June 9, 2019 with an Opening Reception: April 12, 2019 from 5:30 – 7:00 pm at the museum.
My piece, “Divided States” is a mixed media 3-dimensional mosaic, which presents my perception of the current state of American politics with the tear in the flag representing its divisions. However, I am hopeful that the divisions may be bridged, symbolized by the zipper inserted in the tear.
